RECAP OF NOA -LEA MEETING FOR JANUARY

We had our first meeting of 2010 at Shoney's on January 25th. We had a full house and many new faces to the industry. Daurice discussed the different ways a performer can market themselves without breaking the bank. Also, spoke about the importance of headshots and resume's and gave out information on these topics.

One of our local actors, Tony Pallo, discussed what marketing techniques worked for him and the importance of classes for all levels of actors. It is definitely working for him since where ever I go in this industry someone has heard of Tony Pallo. Tony has agreed to become an Assistant Organizer for the New Orleans Actor's Meet. Thank you, you will be a great asset to us.

Assistant Organizer, Susie Labry, spoke about the history of the meet ups and how they have evolved. She is the Organizer of the Baton Rouge Theatre, Film Meet and Christian Meet, and Assistant Organizer of the New Orleans Actor's and New Orleans Film Makers Meet. She spoke how we do not compete against each other but enhance the industry as a whole.

Producer, Instructor, Casting Director, Windy Coleman, also spoke about her place in the film industry and what Hollywood South is all about. She also gave information on her intense workshops and what you can expect from them. She handed out flyers and gave a discount for all members who were at the meeting. She has passed out a free publication of Break Thru Media which also has the 2010 Mardi Gras Parade Schedule. We appreciate her coming out after work and giving us her time. We will have her back at another time this year when she can have the whole floor.

We had a great meeting with wonderful people who are interested in the industry and hope to see everyone on set. Louisiana had 53 movies made last year and we expect over 80 this year. So let's get to work Louisiana!!!

48 HFP

I am proud to say I was involved in the very first annual 48 HFP in New Orleans. I also hope no matter what I am ever doing that I can continue to be a part of it as long as it remains in New Orleans.
Let me tell you why it is so important for everyone of all levels to do this project.
First, if you are starting out in this industry whether you are an actor, writer, director, production assistant, cameraman, etc. it is a great experience with wonderful training.
Second, you will see and experience all aspects of movie making in a 48 hour time frame.
Third, you will meet wonderful people with the same interest in goals and have a blast doing it.

What to expect

You will meet as a team on ? 2009 at 7 p.m. at a designated place. The producer, will then draw a genre' out of a jar for each team. He will then announce the prop and line that must be used in each film. From that time on Friday you will have til Sunday at 7 p.m. to write, perform, edit, produce your film and have it turned in on DVD or mini DV.
